These fiber coupled acousto-optic modulators (AOM) are designed to offer an optimal solution for amplitude modulation of laser light in a single mode optical fiber. They are offered between 680 and 1850 nm (most models are in stock).  These AOM’s are easy to implement and offer direct control of the timing, intensity, and temporal shape of the laser output down to a few nanoseconds.

A fiber coupled AOM (Acousto-Optic Modulator) requires an RF driver. AeroDIODE offers a range of RF drivers configured for either digital input (TTL) or analog input configurations. Our selection of RF drivers is shown in the product section below.  Additionally, the AeroDIODE TOMBAK synchronization tool is offered for complex synchronization applications such as pulse-picking mode locked lasers. It means the RF frequency adds to the laser frequency and the output light frequency is very slightly higher than the input light frequency (the output wavelength is lower than the input wavelength). It is possible to request a down-shifted module, meaning that the output light frequency is slightly lower than the input frequency (the wavelength is slightly higher). Select this option if you want a down shifted AOM. Note : this option needs to be selected only once (qty -1) whatever the number of down-shifted AOM units needed of a given AOM model. This option is compatible with all AOM models described above.

All our AOMs stock items are made for a given RF frequency : either +80 MHz, +100 MHz or +200 MHz. It is possible to request that the AOM is optimized for another RF frequency between -250 and +250 MHz (negative means down-shifted AOM, positive means up-shifted AOM). The 0-170 MHz absolute RF frequency range requires that a low loss/low speed AOM model is selected (models with odd numbers : models 1, 3, 5 etc.). The 175-250 MHz absolute frequency range requires that a high speed AOM model is selected (models with even numbers : models 2, 4, 6 etc.). Select this option if you want your AOM to be set for a different RF frequency (for example 45 MHz, 160 MHz or 215 MHz etc.) and indicate the exact RF frequency you want in the comments part. Note : this option must be selected with the same quantity than the number of AOM units needed of a given AOM model. This option is available for all AOM models described above.

This option adds a third fiber to the AOM output to get the output light of "zeroth" order, i.e. the light going through the crystal without being deviated when no RF power is applied. Typical insertion loss performances are the following :
- RF power OFF : Zeroth order : <1 dB
- RF power ON : Zeroth order ~12 dB ; First order <3 dB
Important note : this option is only compatible with the low loss/low speed fiber coupled AOM models. These are AOM models with odd numbers : models 1, 3, 5 etc.
