The 1-hour course module enables the student to assess the fiber coupled Acousto-Optic Modulator optical characteristics and electrical constraints. The 2-hour module teaches the student how to measure a short pulse laser and its repetition rate as well as evaluate the limiting parameters and potential measurements artifacts. The 3-hour module provides students with an overview of laser diode noise analysis and coherence measurements.

Acousto-Optic Modulators are now commonly used in a wide range of application requiring Photonics technologies. They are either free space devices or more complex (and easier to use) fiber coupled components. These Acousto-Optic Modulator education Kits allow student to discover how to modulate light with nanosecond speed and how this can be used to play with CW (Continuous Wave) and pulsed laser systems. The 3 available modules have different objectives, but they all contribute to providing a solid technical overview of constraints and potential artifacts encountered when working with Acousto-Optic Modulators as a light intensity modulator.
The 3 available Kits share similar drivers and laser diodes. The course modules were designed to enable an educator to order the complete set, which provides a well-designed program to build sequentially any of the 3 student work plans described below. Each work plan includes a student guide document to guide the student through the material supplied with the education kit module.

These educational kits from AeroDIODE are designed for students, researchers and engineers who are involved in optics related fields. They are based on AeroDIODE products and technology. They enable the student to set up and characterize laser diode emission, modulation and photodiode detection. They also enable the student to learn the fundamentals of photonic architectures such as laser cavities, interferometers, and MOPA / master oscillator power amplifier architectures. The kits include a laser diode driver with GUI control and various power and/or wavelength sensors. They offer a thorough overview of the various skills required when handling lasers and fiber optics technologies.

Each educational kit category shown above (Laser Emission | Detection | Modulation | Optical Fiber) is offered in three versions: 1-hour, 2-hours, or one-half day course modules. AeroDIODE educational kits include both the educational material hardware and a student instruction document template.
To follow laser safety regulations, all kits are classified as either Laser Class 1M or Class 3R. A guide is provided along with each of the kits to detail safety processes, set-up instructions, and course-related questions.
